Engineering Straighter Teeth
Straight Teeth, Fast!
The team at Modern Smile Center is very happy to offer Invisalign™ clear aligners to our patients. These innovative trays can provide straight teeth in as little as 9 – 15 months! Clear aligners can correct such imperfections as crowding, wide spaces, overbite, underbite, and even crossbite. And the best part is that no one will know you’re straightening your teeth – because it’s virtually invisible! The Invisalign system is easily removable and allows you to eat and drink what you want while in treatment, and brushing and flossing are no problem!
How It Works
Invisalign uses advanced 3-D computer-imaging technology to prepare your entire treatment plan from the current positioning of your teeth to your final smile. From this plan, clear thermoplastic aligners are created. These are similar to teeth-whitening trays and are custom made to exactly fit your teeth. Gentle forces move your teeth into position. You replace the aligners with a new set about every two weeks and progress through treatment for about a year. Total treatment time is based on your personal needs and goals.

Maintain Your Gorgeous Smile
Once your Invisalign treatment is complete, a retainer is necessary to make sure your beautifully straight smile stays that way. One of the best options for this is the Vivera™ retainer, made by the same company that makes Invisalign. The clear material is at least 30% stronger and twice as durable as other leading clear retainer materials*. Join the retainer revolution and lock in your smile right away!

Complete Orthodontic Options
Dr. Cimino also offers traditional orthodontics to his patients. This typically involves the use of metal or ceramic braces that use steady, gentle pressure in the direction of desired change to correct the position of teeth over time. Conventional braces allow Dr. Cimino to exert more control over how your teeth are straightened, which may be best for complex corrections. In general, braces are worn for two to two-and-a-half years. However, everyone requires a different amount of correction and the time needed will vary by patient.
The Value of Conventional Braces
Conventional braces provide precise control over tooth movement, making them ideal for complex corrections. Since they are not removable, they ensure consistent treatment without the risk of forgetting to wear aligners. Brackets made of stainless steel, titanium, or ceramic are bonded to the teeth and serve as anchors for other components. A thin metal archwire connects the brackets, using gentle pressure to guide teeth into position. Elastic bands, available in colorful or clear options, secure the archwire to the brackets. Adjustments involve changing the wire tension and replacing the elastics as needed to maintain progress.
